Q: What is virtual primary care?
A: Virtual primary care allows you to see a doctor online through secure video visits. You can receive care for most non-emergency health concerns without leaving home.
Frequently Ask Questions
Q: When is telemedicine appropriate?
A: Telemedicine is safe and convenient for many non-emergency needs, such as:
Common illnesses (cold, flu, sinus infection, allergies)
Skin conditions (rash, acne, eczema, minor infections)
Chronic condition management (diabetes, hypertension, asthma, cholesterol)
Mental health concerns (anxiety, depression, insomnia)*
Minor injuries (sprains, strains, small cuts/burns)
Preventive care and lifestyle counseling
*For mental health emergencies such as suicidal thoughts, call 911 or 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Q: Can I get a prescription?
A: Yes, prescriptions may be provided when medically appropriate after a virtual evaluation. However, prescriptions are not guaranteed. We do not prescribe:
Controlled substances (DEA-regulated)
Non-FDA approved drugs
Non-therapeutic or lifestyle medications
Medications requiring close in-person monitoring
If medication is appropriate, we’ll choose the safest and most effective option for you.
Q: Do you prescribe controlled substances (like opioids or stimulants)?
A: No. By law, controlled substances with risk of abuse cannot be prescribed via telemedicine
Q: Can you order lab tests or imaging?
A: Yes. We can order lab work, X-rays, and other tests as needed. You will go to a local facility, and results will be reviewed together at a follow-up visit.
Q: Do you provide referrals to specialists?
A: Yes. If you need specialty care, we can provide referrals and coordinate with your specialist for continuity of care.
Q: What technology do I need?
A: You only need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access, a camera, and a microphone. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to protect your privacy
Q: Can medical forms be filled out?
A: Yes, simple forms such as work excuses or return-to-work notes may be provided when clinically appropriate after a virtual visit. However, forms that require detailed documentation, official certification, or an in-person physical exam cannot be completed through telemedicine. Examples include:
Immigration medical forms
Pre-employment or school physicals
FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) forms
Workers’ compensation paperwork
Disability forms
For these types of documents, an in-person evaluation is required.
